Northern Territory

{ June, 2013 }

(Note: I blogged about this in separate blog posts but decided to combine into a page, so the style of blogging is still the same 12.5 year old Jean, no edits were made)

This will be about my holiday in Northern Territory , Australia :)

I'll show you Darwin now and update on the other places!

These photos are from my phone, and for your information I AM BLOGGING ON MY PHONE BECAUSE I HAVE NO CHOICE D:

This is Darwin Parliament House AKA the wedding cake because it looks like one.

Went on the original Jumping Crocodile cruise. Well obviously, the crocs jump as seen in the picture.

Well this is it LOL.

I'm in Alice Springs! Yesterday I visited Alice Springs Desert Park. A really nice place. Got to see kangaroos, birds and many other cool plants.

Basically it's something like that. Really nice scenery.

I went to Anzac Hill too. Got to see an amazing 360 deg view of Alice Springs. This is the top of Anzac Hill.

Also went to Alice Springs School Of The Air. They allow children living in the outback to learn over the radio and it was really cool. I got to see a 'live broadcast' lol.

Then went to Royal Flying Doctor Service visitor center. This is also like school of the air, the doctors fly to the remote areas. That was kind of interesting... We don't usually hear of 'flying doctors'.

Next we went to have lunch. There was camel and kangaroo meat and I'm like. WHAT.
I just won't eat the whole piece of kangaroo meat because it looks bloody and tastes bloody. I only had one tiny bit... Argh it's giving me the creeps now that I think about it. What to do leh? It's what the aborigines eat.

We were at Todd Mall, we went around shopping for souvenirs. I got a really cute koala beanie that was hand knitted. It's REALLLLLY cute!!
(Hehe)

After that was a bit of free time but I just went back to the hotel room, looked at videos and took a nice nap because I was too lazy do anything else.

I had dinner at a Thai-Indian restaurant just 5-10min walk from the lasseters hotel i was staying at. The food was quite okay (esp masala fish, really tender inside) , but the Pad Thai was reallllly spicy I was having a runny nose just after eating a few mouths. It was still a delicious meal overall!
Masala fish ;)

There was really nice desserts too.
(Banana springrolls and some kind of glutinous rice which i forgot the name ._.)

Tomorrow I'll be on the bus for 6 hours to Uluru. That's where I'll get to see Ayers Rock. Oh wow I've seen pictures of it on postcards. It actually 'changes colors' at various times of the day. Will blog soon again!

I'm in Uluru for 2 days! Tomorrow I'm leaving this nice place :(

We got to see Ayers Rock. Sadly it was a really bad weather, it rained the whole day today!

Awwww if it didnt rain we could have seen the amazing Ayers Rock during sunrise and sunset and it's really really beautiful..

Oh well, at least i got to see it ...

Featuring lyn low.

Some pictures from various sides of Ayers Rock.

By the way, it was freezing cold and it was also raining!

After that i went on a camel ride! Haha camels are actually kinda cute :)

It was drizzling during the camel ride and IT WAS REALLY REALLY COLD I WAS LIKE SHIVERING LIKE.. MAD.

Had lunch at Gecko's Cafe. It's a 5min walk from Sails In The Desert hotel i'm staying at. If i'm not wrong this cafe is with some other shops and a supermarket close to Desert Gardens hotel.

I tried boscaiola. Mushrooms with bacon in creamy sauce. Chose penne and it was kinda nice and a really filling meal. It's cheesy and creamy, so it's okay for me.

Penne boscaiola

Oops no filter HAHAHA.

The Ghan is a train.

LOLOLOL. Okay so i rode this train from Alice Springs to Darwin. Going back sg now... Blogging at Darwin airport because i've got ample time here. On the way to Darwin we stopped by Katherine for a Nitmiluk gorge cruise tour.

Let me show you The Ghan hehehe.

It's a really LONGGGGGGGGGG train. I was in the gold class single room and it was actually 4 carriages away from the dining area. 4 carriages. But much much further than you think.

Here's my room.

Here's my room after my bed was brought down so that i could sleep.

Pretty comfy bed esp the red blanket really soft HAHA LOL.

And it's quite easy to make your bed only had to lift the bed frame down (it's quite light) and there's your bed.

Pretty much whatever you need is in the room. Altogether it's 1 big comfy sofa, 1 small table, 1 small mirror, 1 full length mirror, 2 towels, 1 pack which contains earplugs and toiletries, 1 bed, 2 pillows, 1 blanket WHY AM I LISTING THEM.

Aiya it's just almost everything you need. OH BEFORE I FORGET, there's even a small basin (it's actually hidden like the bed) where you can wash your face, brush your teeth! Unfortunately there's no shower in the single room. It's outside ;(

Meals were at Queen Adelaide Restaurant in 1 portion of the train. Sadly the train shook quite badly and it was hard to get a perfect picture of the delicious meals I had. Lucky I've got the breakfast nicely taken :P

It was poached eggs with bacon, sausage and mushroom.

Oops and half a tomato.

There's actually entrées. For the breakfast it was some yogurt and passion fruit thing FREAKING NICE but the picture's in my camera -_-

Really excited to upload the pictures to facebook once i get home. It's freaking high definition.

Oh yeah. We stopped over at Katherine for our Nitmiluk tour. I kept thinking it was nitmulik argh.

There was seriously really nice rocks and sceneries! Yeah and most of them are in my camera. A camera can just take pictures so much more perfect :P

After the gorge cruise thingy we went back to the train and headed to Darwin.
Awww so sad I gotta go back sg now and face the haze. Heard that the PSI was freaking 400 at 11am? :( no going out.

But still i enjoyed the week here in Australia. Omggzz i should really come back here again, esp Uluru. Go see the Ayers Rock with the sunrise and sunset. It is really an amazing sight, really recommend everyone to go there. Of course, with a good weather.

Here I end my 'travel diary' (it's not even a travel diary HAHA) of my vacation in Northern territory and central Australia. Goodbye Australia I had so much fun :*

Oops @willyion  :  let's not forget mike the camel, joshy and barramundi.
